While addressing a public meeting here after launching of projects worth nearly Rs 13,000 cr, the PM said: “A demography mission would be initiated to check infiltration from across the border in bordering areas of the country.”

The Prime Minister defended ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar, saying under no circumstances, infiltrators would be allowed to play any role in our democratic system. It was noticed that infiltrators were present in bordering areas of the country, he noted.
" In Bihar, infiltrators are usurping rights of youths of the state, which could not be allowed any more, " Modi said and alleged that Congress and RJD were in favour of snatching rights of youths of Bihar and giving the same to infiltrators for their electoral advantage.
The Election Commission has launched SIR in Bihar before state assembly elections to be held in October-November to remove names of those who were not genuine voters.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, RJD's Tejashwi Prasad Yadav and other opposition leaders are targeting the Election Commission for carrying out SIR before assembly elections in the state. Ruling party leaders are defending it by maintaining that names of fake voters would be weeded out from the list through SIR.
